Do you wonder what it takes to make marriage work? Some couples appear to be masters at marriage and others are disasters. In their Love Lab with 3,000 couples, Dr. John Gottman and his assistants studied couples’ interactions (Gottman). Over the years they saw consistent patterns. They learned how to easily predict which marriages would fail and what principles were making successful marriages work. From their data, Dr. John Gottman and Nan Silver wrote the New York Time’s Best Seller The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work. That same content was later used to develop an evidence-based training program and manual for workshops.

Seven Principles Workshop

ESSENTIAL RELATIONSHIP BUILDING SKILLS-INSIGHTFUL AND PRACTICAL

Dr. John Gottman and Dr. Julie Gottman are world renown relationship experts. Their model for successful relationships focuses on the model they created called The Sound Relationship House (Gottman). Throughout this workshop we provide useful information, role plays and fun activities that focus on the 7 principles that will help you to build a sound relationship house.

The goal of this workshop is to help couples:

gain insight into their partner’s inner world and perspective
foster deeper connections, friendship, and fondness
improve communication and learn how to address problems

Couples in various stages of their relationship are welcome. This includes those who are dating, engaged, married, or otherwise committed who want to further strengthen their relationship. This workshop is intended for couples. Therefore, optimal learning and activity participation means both partners should attend all sessions. If however, an occasion arises and that is not possible then one partner can still attend to learn the content, and then as a couple you can practice the activity on your own time.

Is This Workshop Right For You?

This workshop is psychoeducational and is not psychotherapy. Therefore, this workshop is NOT intended for couples with severe relationship distress (fights that turn into verbal, emotional or physical altercations/abuse) or for individuals/couples in which there are any mental health problems. Furthermore, this workshop is not suited for individuals/couples who struggle with addiction, compulsive behaviors or sexual acting out. Couples struggling with any of these issues would benefit from individual private counseling with a therapist rather than this workshop.

During Seven Principles Workshop couples need to purchase the Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work Couples Set or Couples Guide from The Gottman Institute. This is a great resource to have both during and after this workshop. This is a fun, meaningful and popular workshop. We welcome you to join us.

Seven Principles Workshop Cost is $425 per couple (plus the purchase of Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work Couples Set or Couples Guide, which costs approximately $49).

Gottman Seven Principles Leaders

Faith and Rodney Franz are trained Gottman Seven Principles Leaders. They are a happily married couple who love spending time together along with Remi (their Bouvier des Flandres dog). Rodney served 20 years in the Navy. His hobbies include motorcycles, road trips, puzzles, and music. Faith has worked in the social service field for over 30 years. She enjoys biking, reading, fitness, and flute. Rodney and Faith highly value their relationships with friends, family, and their church community. They feel blessed to have happy, successful adult age children.
