Gottman Method Couples Therapy
For over 40 years John Gottman, an award winning researcher, and his talented clinician wife Julie Gottman, have studied and worked with thousands of couples. They discovered traits the happiest and most successful couples possessed, and predictable patterns and causes for relationship disasters. Along with their own discoveries they also integrated the research and findings of other social scientists and relationship experts and developed a program to help couples work towards happiness, stability and longer lasting relationship success.

As a Gottman Level 3 trained therapist I serve clients using the Gottman method for couples therapy and integrate Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) during individual therapy. Through a process of assessments, discussions and creating a plan I work collaboratively with couples to help them discover new ways to communicate, understand one another, manage conflict, and build a healthier and happier relationship.

Gottman Method Couples Therapy

Stemming from 4 decades of research and work with thousands of couples John and Julie Gottman discovered what best helps couples stay together happily and have a long lasting relationship. Those findings were used to create The Sound Relationship House concept along with skills and strategies aimed at helping couples build and maintain a solid relationship.

The Gottman’s research identified 4 areas that damage and destroy relationships along with proven ways to repair, restore and rebuild. During couples counseling these areas are identified and activities and strategies are practiced to form new habits.

70% of problems couples experience in their relationship are perpetual. There are Gottman designed interventions that help couples better handle conflict and get to the heart of the matter.
